Derrick Girard
Derrick Girrard, an "army brat" and former Air Force member, built a successful tech company with no prior tech background, overcoming multiple lawsuits. He sold the company in late 2023. His book, Put to the Test, champions a "figure it out" (FIO) mindset, emphasizing self-awareness, directness, and perseverance. Girrard advocates for leaders to be examples, learn from failure, address issues upstream, and relentlessly pursue solutions with a "So what? Now what?" philosophy.
After 15+ years in the financial services industry, I set out to build a tech company from the ground up. As you can imagine, this was not easy and the challenges to come would have been impossible to predict. Surviving and winning the lawsuits, landing the biggest fish in the sea as clients, and selling the company led to me hearing one question, over and over again: How did you do that? This leads me to my next chapter, author and speaker.
